Brand Whisperer

I was on a call when a client called me a “brand whisperer.”

The client had an immediate need — a marketing strategy and content plan for the core business. They needed a plan for results, pronto.  Providing them that solution was easy to do, but I sensed that wasn’t really where their mind or hearts were about their business.  I asked a few probing questions to get them out of that short-term productivity mode and higher up into their vision, hopes, and dreams mode.  And from there they had the space to open up about the heart of what they really wanted to spend their time solving, and we began exploring the ways to build a path for that visionary work alongside the short term needs of the business.  In less than a one hour call we coaxed those big brand dreams right out of them.

It’s not the first time I’ve worked with business leaders who have a big vision but find it buried under the speed and complexity of running today’s businesses.  Before hearing brand whisperer, I’ve also been called a “brand therapist” perhaps as much so as a brand strategist.  I bring a human element to a business that’s become increasingly data driven. I invite people to open up, to get present to their inner voice, to listen to themselves, to trust their instincts.  I truly believe everyone at the table has something to offer, and the more we’re reminded of this, the more we show up to lead - no matter where we sit on a team or organization.

My firm is called Part Heart, Part Smart, for this very reason.  As brand leaders, we live in a wildly fast-paced and increasingly complex landscape, with enormous to-do lists.  It’s so hard to slow down, get present, and lead our businesses with our full selves.  But there are simple practices that support this shift, and showing teams how to incorporate them into strategic thinking, along with the decades of experience I have in this industry, delivers better results.

In fact, an article from @Forbes shared that “mindfulness gives employees permission and space to think — to be present — leading to mental agility, resilience and self-awareness. In addition, mindfulness can reduce emotional exhaustion, increase openness to new ideas and develop compassion and empathy.”  I think those are pretty important leadership tools for brand and business leaders, don’t you?

Do you use mindfulness, breath work, or other modalities to support your leadership style?

Could you use a strategic partner that brings the best out of your team while helping you chart a path to growth with proven brand growth methods?

My firm specializes in problem solving for brands looking to grow - and for businesses large and small.  I’ve worked with businesses from $40K/month to $4B/year.  Let’s talk about what’s not working or lofty goals you need to figure out how to deliver against.  Landscape assessment, ideal client/customer identification, positioning development, concept creation, consumer research and insights, innovation — you name it, we’ll be able to help you or we’ll know the perfect person to do so.

Drop me a note anytime. I’m here to help good people do big things.
